THE GARDEN OF THE GOLDEN FLOUR

THE JOURNEY TO SPIRITUAL FULFILLMENT

Longfield Beatty

1939

"Where is the root of the Golden Flower?

In the garden of the Two Trees.

And where does the flower bloom?

In the Purple Hall of the City of Jade.

Where is this garden?

In the seed water, the moat of the City.

When does the flower bloom?

At the end of the far journey.

What journey?

From water to fire, earth to gold, serpent to eagle;

from father to mother, mother to son, son to father.

And the cost of the journey?

The blood of father, mother, and son.

Blood, then, is a password?

No, only the

SPHINX

can teach the password."

CHAPTER

EIGHT

THE CULT OF THE SUN

" Out of Egypt have I called my Son."

(Matt. ii, 17.)

SECTION

1

THE GODS OF EGYPT

"IT is hardly to be disputed that the most elaborate of all solar cults was that of Egypt, indeed, the very complexity of the material may seem to be a good reason for avoiding it. Yet I am persuaded that in spite of the chaos and corruption which are the most striking features of the Egyptian religion as it is known to-day, we should still be able to find the traditional equivalents for our abstract terms. The symbolism of the uncon- scious rides roughshod over all logical arrangements, and so provides a novel viewpoint such as that implied in the following quotation:

"We are apt to stigmatise as' contradictory' the apparently confused ideas which run through these books, as through many Egyptian texts, when perhaps it is ourselves who are interpreting them too literally."

(SHORTER: The Egyptian Gods, p. 86.)

The method to be followed is clearly the general one which has led the argument to its present position, for, since every phase of civilisation is represented in Egyptian / Page192 / cults, we should expect to fuld there evidence to confirm many of the conclusions already arrived at. At the same time the wealth of material is embarrassing-especially in regard to the Tuat-and we have to pick and choose only those few symbols which definitely harmonise. It is only too easy to recognise the contradictory aspects of the gods of Egypt, arrived at by millennia of varied development and retrogression; but the existence of contradictions does not preclude the discovery of fundamental harmony, even if it renders the search more difficult.

It will be remembered that our first concern was with the magical force whose symbol-in-chief was menstrual blood, and this same blood may well mark the beginning of our excursion into Egyptology. For instance, the blood of Isis seems to represent a talisman with just such a force, albeit considerably spiritualised when com- pared with the grosser forms of taboo. Instead of being maleficent, or at best "canalised" and vaguely beneficent, the power was specifically co.nnected with immortality. We have the identity of the talisman clearly enough displayed in the following particulars:

"The Tjet. . . . An amulet which was commonly made of some red substance, e.g. red jasper, red glass, red wood, red porphyry, red porcelain, and carnelian, or sand, or reddish agate; examples in solid gold are known and in gilded stone.

"The Tjet is a conventional form of the genital organs of the goddess Isis, and it was supposed to give to the wearer, living or dead, the virtue of the blood of Isis."

(BUDGE: Amulets and Superstitions, p. 137.)"

" The real value of the object to the Egyptian was that it possessed the power of the blood of Isis, probably the menstral blood. . . .

"In a drawing reproduced by Lazone a goddess is seen rising out of the Tjet in exactly the same way as we see Osiris rising out of the Tet."

TIBET

"Now let us be quite clear about this symbol of the blood. Father and Mother alike rise out of the sign of sexual union which has already been recognised as that of unity, the sign of the beginning and ending of every process at every level. But hitherto we have regarded the blood as associated particularly with the Father in its higher meanings; only among primitives was the significance of the "female" blood particularly noted. It is therefore desirable to try and clear up the whole position as far as possible at this stage, though the full exposition of the various connecting links must await analysis of the OEdipus relationships.

In the first place it has become clear that Father and Son may be regarded as successive aspects of one person, while the Mother is the essential condition of all living, whether mortal or immortal. All three Terms derive their power from the sign of wine and their form from the sign of bread. Body and blood, spirit and matter are the keys of their interaction. '

In order to approach the mystical truth we have to make use of the physical symbols, whose relationship is found to be as follows. The Father enters the Mother and " dies " (the " life " is gone out of him), but he is bom again as the Son through the sacrifice of the Mother. Thus the blood of the Father is more properly the fluid of life, that of the Mother its renewed form. The Mother is the Gate of Life. To her in due course / Page194 / the Son returns (incest), and here is the third and " key" sacrifice, that of the crucifixion; for when the Son is re-born from the blood of Isis, the Gate of Immortality, he is the re-created Father. "I and my Father are one."

Nor must it be forgotten that these symbols are true for every individual. We are all born of the Ever-virgin and the eternal Father (i.e. of love), but we are also born of the harlot and the temporal father (i.e. of desire). Every individual has within him the potentiality of both Christ and Antichrist.

At all events it should now be understandable why both Isis and Osiris rise from the sign of sexual union and why both have their power derived from " blood."

. . . At least we speak of the blood of Isis, though Osiris is better known as the medium of the " fluid of Ra," which in physical terms is the semen. And we can see too why the god of sex, Min the " Shameless," plays such an important part in the Egyptian pantheon. He is even regarded as "another form of Amen" . . . what we should read perhaps as the "physical medium of Amen's power." It is Min who, in the Book of the Dead (Spell. 17, Sec. 9), is represented as the power by which immortality is won:

"I am Min at his coming forth. I have placed my two plumes upon my head."

The Commentary then says:

"As for Min, it is Horus, Champion of his Father. As for his coming forth, it is his birth."

Thus the cycle is completed. Amen projects his power into Matter where it is expressed as the integrating force in general, and love (in all its forms) in particular. This power becomes incarnate in the blood of Isis / Page195 / "(Tjet), and is ultimately sublimated to divinity. . . the Child of Isis becomes the Divine King. "

Page 195 (continues)

"As in the case of Christianity, those who follow the Hero are members of his mystical body and follow his " way." In this connection I put forward a suggestion -it is little more-for the interpretation of a certain class of mystical art. There is among the Gulberkian Collection in the British Museum the figure of a kneeling priest (" Kneeling man with shrine: black stone. No. XV"). It is clear, even from a photograph "full- face," that this priest has one female breast. Moreover the " shrine " rises from the thighs and represents Osiris the King, standing, and wearing the " double feather " already mentioned, which is to say" resurrected."

Now, in the earlier part of this book it became clear that in mystical terms the sexual symbolism of the re-birth requires: (1) That the Hero become androgyne and (2.) that the power of sex be sublimated. It was further recognised that the sign of the sublimation was that of "re-birth" (Jonas) whereby the Warrior became (immortal) King. It seems to me at least probable that this symbolism was at one time known in Egypt and that it was incorporated consciously in this particular statuette. . . the ideas are probably too complex to have been reproduced "unconsciously" in a single figure. But it is understood that I do not claim this example as justifying these contentions. . . it is mentioned more in the hope that other examples may be brought to light.

The next stage in our general enquiry revealed that the "power of the blood" was incorporated in the secret name of God, and here the Egyptian legend provides a lengthy story, most of which is obviously corrupt. In essence, however, it is clear enough. Isis persuades Ra to tell her his secret name, and it is evident that this / Page 195 / name confers tbe power of the god. At first sight this seems all wrong. . . . How should the sovereign power of the Spirit be given to the material principle? For the power of the Name was, of course, that of IHOH, which was the Word, personified in Egypt as Thoth the Magician, i.e. one who changes one form into another. It is for this very reason, however, that we may infer an " unconscious "meaning. Mter all, the whole essence of the divine plan which begins at Alpha and ends with Omega. . . . Ra's Plan is, if the previous analogies are accepted, no less than the incarnation of tbe Word. We have seen that the impregnation of Matter by Spirit is symbolised in the role of Min, as well as in the parentage of the Consummator (human Mother, divine Father) and his destiny of equality with the Father.

Now the impregnation of the Mother, in general as opposed to physical terms, is clearly the passing into her of the secret name, from which the Son is born. In respect of Isis we find the interpretation confirmed in the family relationsbips, for Osiris, Isis, and Horus are beyond dispute the Father, Mother, Son, represented by Holy Ghost, Mary, Jesus. Isis gives birth to a miraculous Child who ascends to the throne of his father Ra, having triumphed over his opposite (Set) and over the Mother. In practice it is easier to consider Horus/ Osiris as a composite being, the former being primarily the Child and Warrior, while the latter is primarily the King. . . . In fine, the pair represent successive phases of the mystical journey.

To gain a clearer understanding of this Trinity it will probably be easier to begin with Isis. In her highest aspect she is co-equal partner with Ra himself, so that these two form the great FATHER/MOTHER. Thence / Page 197 / are derived the two pairs of terms, Dual Father and Dual Mother, Osiris/Set and IsisfNepthys, whose charac-teristics need no further explanation since they run broadly true to type. All four are brothers and sisters as well as husbands and wives, and all are derived from the abstract duality of "heaven" and "earth" in the sense in which those terms are used at the beginning of Genesis. Beyond these again is the mysterious, secret Unity, and "triunity ," which I dare not parti- cularise too neatly, but will illustrate by means of titles.

It may be said to consist of the overlapping entities called variously Ptah, Amen, Horus-the-Elder, or Ra, and for purposes of convenience we shall use the last inclusive title, which stands for "God" in the sense in which that word is used in Christianity. Incidentally it may be remarked that in using so many "personifica- tions" of " God " the Egyptians hardly differ from the Christians, who are quite content to allow" God" to include such subsidiary aspects as " Lord God," " Alpha and Omeg a" " Jehovah" "Lord of Hosts" "IHOH,"

"Ancient of Days," " Our Father," and so on, without troubling very much as to whether they have any relative significance. It is an attitude of mind very difficult to understand, for to common sense it seems unlikely, to say the least of it, that the various biblical authors could have used all these terms at random to

mean just the same thing. That they derive from the all-inclusive Unity of " God" is quite a different idea, and one which the Ancient Egyptians well knew, at least at their highest development:

"1. GOD is One and Alone and no other existeth with him.

God is the One, the One who hath made everything. / Page 198 /

2. God is a spirit, a hidden spirit, the Spirit of spirits, the great Spirit of Egypt, the divine Spirit.

3. God is from the beginning, he hath been from the begin-ning, he is the primeval one and existed when nothing else was. He is the Father of Beginnings.

4. God is the Eternal One, he is everlasting and is without end, and he will exist into all eternity.

5. God is hidden, no man knoweth his form. No man hath searched out his similitude. He is hidden to gods and men.

6. No man knoweth a name by which to call him. His name remains hidden (in the Mother). His name is a secret to his children. His names are without number.

7. God is Truth. He liveth through Truth, he feedeth him-self thereon. He is the King of Truth,

8. God is Life, and only through him doth one live. He poureth out life on men, he breatheth the breath of life into the nostrils.

9. God is Father and Mother. The Father of fathers and the Mother of mothers. God begetteth and is not begotten. He is the Creator of his own form and the sculptor of his own body.

10. God himself is existence (consciousness ?). He subsisteth in all things and remaineth in all things. He is the subsistent Element which increaseth without perishing.

15. God is compassionate towards his worshippers. He heareth the man who appealeth to him. He protecteth the weak against the strong, God heareth the cry of him who is in dire distress, he is compassionate towards the man who appealeth to him. God recogniseth the man who acknowledgeth him; and rewardeth him that serveth him, and protecteth him that followeth in his way"

"In Christianity the Holy Ghost (Love) conceives the Word incarnate, Jesus Christ; in Egypt the Word of Ptah, his thought, becomes embodied as Osiris/Horus. So the vital theme is stated and restated in various terms and on various levels, perhaps its most homely expression being incorporated in the idea that since Pharaoh is a personification of Osiris, his sister / wife is therefore the personification of Isis, who is visited by the immaculate conception to bring the Heir of Pharaoh / Osiris to birth."

 OSIRIS

ZAZAZAZAZAZAZAZAZA

THE GARDEN OF THE GOLDEN FLOUR

THE JOURNEY TO SPIRITUAL FULFILLMENT

Longfield Beatty

1939

page

199

"More exalted ? of nature than any other god,. at whose beauty the gods rejoice. He to whom praise is given in the Great House, who is crowned in the House of Fire. . . . He found her as she rested in the beauty of her palace. She awoke at the perfume of the god and laughed in the presence of his Majesty. . . . He gave his heart to her. . . . The palace overflowed with the perfume of the god, and all his savour was that of Punt."

(SHORTER: op.cit.,p. 15.)

SO much for the incarnation of Light, the Divine Fire, the Word. . . . Let us now consider the attributes of the Enemy, who is Set, the Serpent, the Black Pig, Stealer of the Eye (of Osiris/Horus), i.e. Destroyer of Light, the Betrayer. Clearly he stands for Death, as indeed does his consort Nepthys . . . the pair are katabolism, as opposed to the complementary forces personified in Isis. It should be remembered also that in addition to the human symbol there is often an animal one. . . one stage "lower." For Isis the thermiomorphic sign is Bast, with whom we have already had some dealings- / Page 200 / though with special reference to her destructive aspect -while in the case of Set it is Sekmet, the crocodile, arch-enemy of Ra :

"The Fire of the Eye of Horus is on you, burning you, grilling you, frizzling you, stabbing you, spearing you, eating into you, roasting you, setting you on fire, burning you to ashes, destroying every trace of you. Unemi, the Devouring Fire, consumeth you, Sekmet, the blasting fire of the desert maketh an end of you, and Ups-ur adjudgeth you to destruc- tion. Flame, Fire, Spark pulverise you."

(BUDGE: ibid., p. 52.0.)

This quotation makes two things very clear: ( I) Fire as the Element of Ra, and (2.) Sekmet as the opposite of Fire. . . the other three elements in all probability, but especially Water. But again this is relatively unimportant; it assists us, however, in making a tabulation of the chief characters on a series of levels. Though it is no longer possible to separate ., cosmic, mystic, and physical "- arbitrary terms in any case-the .arrangement is still one of progressive abstraction.

Note. - The primal triunity may be symbolised as "two eyes in the face of heaven," i.e. Sun and Moon in Horus-the-Elder.

Though this tabulation may seem rather complex at first sight, it will be seen to fit in with the usual " frame-work," especially in regard to the Genesis narrative and the relationship between the parents of Aradia and her opposite. It also corresponds with the "canonical,"

Great Nine of Heliopolis (if we omit Horus and the Sons of Rebellion who are included in their respective Fathers). I am aware that there are several extant versions of the Great Nine, though this one, being given pre-eminence by so great an authority as Sir Wallis Budge, deserves special respect. It should be noted, however, that the original gives Tem instead of Ra, and this is interesting, for the former is Ra in his creative aspect, author of the universe, including all the rest of the Nine. He is the Origin which is Alpha, and his symbol is the Setting Sun.

Indeed, the point may be considered further to clarify various aspects of the solar cycle. Obviously there are two great divisions which apply equally to the diurnal and annual cycles, those of manifestation and removal, day and night, summer and winter. Let us call these the phases of the cycle whose symbols are Rising and Setting, Khepera and Tem respectively. The former clearly corresponds with the ascent of Spirit, the latter with the descent. . . and remember that the descent comes first. It is the Father who initiates the cycle which is completed by the Son. Tem, in fact, is peculiarly the Creator, and as such he has another symbol. . . that of the Beetle (scarabaus sa:cer), humble roller of a little ball of dung, which is the World. That, however, is a / Page 202 / symbol we are able to dispense with; the main thing is to recognise that the two aspects of the Unity which make up the Cosmic Trinity are (i) Khepri and (ii) Tem

. . . who is really Khepri-in-Ra while remaining distinct in his own attributes. . . another example of ttiunity. Tern is indeed the " Alpha " of the Divine Plan, and as such he says:

" I was the Creator in Khepri.

I created the Creator of creations,

the Creator of all creations.

Subsequently I created multitudes of creations

which came forth from my mouth."

(BUDGE: ibid., p. 141.)

But if Tem is the Creator in toto why differentiate him from Ra? Because Ra is more than the Creator, he is also, for instance, the Preserver, and as such has many aspects which are not included in Tern. Ra, again, has one symbol which is inclusive, the Disc of the Sun; but this may be " borrowed" by any other god in his capacity as an aspect of the One One. Thus, in practice, all those gods of Egypt which have a direct connection with the forces of Light have also a solar symbol. Such symbols are clearly in the nature of totem signs, and should not be confused with those others which are carefully differentiated from the Disc even as their "owners" are differentiated from Ra. We can follow these ideas in the form of one of the usual tables of Terms and levels. Needless to say, the arrangement is not, and could never be, an accurate summary of the "framework" in Egypt. It does, however, clarify the situation considerably, and indicates a fuller statement of the equations of which the Appendix provides only abbreviated examples.

THE GARDEN OF THE GOLDEN FLOUR

THE JOURNEY TO SPIRITUAL FULFILLMENT

Longfield Beatty

1939

Page 203

"I think that is about as far as we dare go, though additional correspondences certainly present specious credentials. But we have all the essentials and can afford to ignore the rest, even including Anubis, the "Opener of the Way," whose nature completely eludes me. Actually we only require the human equation, No.4 on the Table; and so we can leave generalities in favour of the familiar territory of the Hero. The road is plain enough, indeed the composite Osiris / Horus bears nearly all the symbols of the Christ. As in the case of Hercules) / Page 204 / it is as well to use a tabulation, chiefly so as to preserve the sense of distinct attributes.

The Symbols of Osiris / Horus.

1. Horus is conceived of the Spirit (Ra) as well as by human Father (Osiris) and a marvellous Mother (Isis). The Father is a King.

2.. The birth of the Child is miraculous. According to Plutarch the event took place out of time. His version describes Nut as giving birth to Osiris (who is here the Hero-child) on a day made beyond the year. To make this day, light had been "won" from Ra by Silene (Moon). At the time of the birth a voice was heard pro-claiming: "The Lord of all the earth is born."

In a less abstract account the Child (now Horus) is conceived from the dead body of Osiris, which had been reintegrated by Isis and vivified by Thoth.

3. The Child (Horus) becomes a Warrior. He seizes the diadem from his Mother's head (overcoming the Mother. . . gaining power over matter). He is in constant battle with the enemy of his Divine Father, though destined to ultimate victory .

4. The Warrior-King (Osiris) is betrayed by Set, whose followers nail him down in a wonderful chest of wood which thus becomes his coffin. The chest is set adrift and is eventually washed ashore in a foreign land. There a tree grew round the chest, completely enclosing it. The tree, which was evidently of peculiar merit (Tree of Life) was taken to the palace of the queen of / Page 205 / the land, Atenais, who may be Istar . . . that Asiatic Mother whose most popular attribute was the annual slaughter of her lover. Indeed, it might well have been the womb (or palace) of the Destroyer which enclosed the Hero (incest), for the Destroyer is an aspect of Isis 1 in her capacity of Dual Mother. It is not surprising, therefore, that Isis found the magical tree and brought it back to Byblos in Egypt where it was at one time worshipped. It was there, presumably, that the Tree of Death became the Tree of Birth and Osiris rose from the dead to become co-equal with Ra.

5. The very important myth of the dismemberment of Osiris should be considered apart from the points just dealt with, since it represents a cosmic rather than a mystical allegory. As I see it, the scattering of the Father's members over the Earth is equivalent to the diffusion of conscious-ness, which has been recognised as the descent of Spirit into Matter. The time when the diffusion is greatest is clearly at the bottom of the descent (" fall "). Thereafter the ascent proceeds through Matter until the Triple Christ is born of a human mother; so that it might be said that the Mother reintegrated the Father so that from him she might bear the Son. The point is the most difficult one which we have yet had to consider, and I have not attempted to treat it fully, partly on that account, and partly because it is not essential to the argument. The implications of the myth in our own terms will / Page 206 / be found a few pages hence under the symbols of Midsummer (q.v.). 1 Nepthys.

From the career of the Hero as it has just been outlined, it is obvious that the peak of the whole system is that of the resurrection, necessarily an abstract and therefore difficult concept. Perhaps for that reason there is a great deal of confusion in the rituals, though beneath trivialities and inconsistencies there is a certain amount of truth which cannot be hidden. After all, it is really of no consequence if whole mountains of falsehood are found in the course of the search for truth. All falsehood together cannot stand in the way of a very little truth. That the Mysteries of Osiris, which formed in their entirety a most elaborate drama, should have included much that is primitive and gross is only to be expected, as Budge himself says:

". . . There was not the smallest action on the part of any member of the men and women who acted the Osiris Drama, and not a sentence in the liturgy which did not refer to some historical happening of vital significance to the follower of Osiris. Many of these happenings dated from the dawn of the cult of Osiris, and the Egyptians of the Dynastic period, not knowing exactly what they were, followed tradition blindly.

(Op. cit., 515.)

With that qualification, I can confidently refer the reader to the standard sources, and for the sake of encouragement will give two quotations the like of which for sheer power in the terms of their faith are scarcely to be matched even in Christianity. . . . Yet, in a real sense, this is Christianity. The first citation is from the Papyrus of Nekht (Brit. Mus. 10471) and is taken from Shorter (op. cit., p. 65)

And the next quotation is "relayed" from Budge (op. cit.. p. 52.1). having come from Papyrus No. 10188 (Brit. Mus.). There have been some omissions in order to reinforce as much as possible the particular aspect of it which is our immediate concern. To this end also notes have been added to certain passages of particular importance"

"...He will take his form with him as he will / Page 25 / have learned to appreciate it in his experience on Earth. In his devas-tation and sorrow beyond the veil once more he will then learn the lesson of

LOVE

, he shall learn the lesson of Grief and the veil of tears shall flood his way, and he shall not partake of deception ever more. He will settle in for so long a term of reflection upon his experience he will gain complete stability and will in all likelihood attempt to replay some of his old scenes of the past. I will not tolerate this nor will the Universe. Though all religions shall have indirectly turned to him with acclaim, he shall know that the purpose for his coming was for his lesson.

8. Many who walk the pathway of discernment in this day shall know his deception and incapability of love. And when My Great One comes who shall bear in His body the mark of the

of

those who discern shall know Him of whom I speak. For discernment shall not come from the Teachers, it shall not come from the studies, it shall not come from writings sacred, so called, but it shall come from within. For only there doth the Father abide amongst His Children and He shall whisper unto them the Way, and they shall hear and they shall see and they shall walk therein and they shall not fall prey to these things, for even now they await in the shadows and in the silence the sound of My Footsteps, the breath of My Breath upon them and the end of all these sorrows.

Part 4

1

I

AM

the Father Mother God, Creator of All That is and ever shall be. It is I who write these words that My Children might come to know the Truth of all Things and be given their opportunity to choose their way.

2. In our last discussion it was with great sorrow on My part, of necessity, thus to so speak concerning one of My sons. However it is the urgency of the times that now comes to the planet that makes My intervention vital to the welfare of All of My Children who abide upon it as well as the urgency for Mother Earth herself. The time that remains for life in your physical dimension grows shorter by he moment. Soon that moment dawns when all things shall have been made right

"...3. You have finally located in your search the only passage or use of the number

666

in the entire written record. In vain did you search for another, for no other corresponding witness exists any where. For it is here at this point in the record

( Rev. 13:18 )

that the perversion of this number made entry, calculated and deliberate in its destructive intent. In the (four) references to this subject that follow, the number becomes a mark that is not My Seal. The few references that follow go on to expand the prized lie that it is the "mark of the beast" and even that it appears in the forehead as well as the hand. Once an awareness is born of these interferences and the motive, the entire proposal is clearly exposed.

4

THE

NUMBER

999

is identified as truly of My Kingdom. It represents a Divine number of the Creation of Life itself in this and other Universes.

This is a widely known fact in other worlds. It is a code number within the consciousness of many who have come to . Page 32 / this planet to serve the Father, and who are actual extensions of My Self. To disguise this number as a mark of the Fallen ones has dia-bolically and thoroughly confused the souls of this planet, but it was easily accomplished by another source simply by inverting the num-ber upside down.

5

My Daughter, there is a great need for Us to unfold this story, to surface it in human minds to assist with the mass confusion which will surface regardless. So many have long waited the fulfillment of the prophecy concerning the mark of the beast. I have made provi- sions for this lesson to come forth. It is unfortunate that the lesson will be played out to the detriment of those who have changed its meaning and representation. For this is actually the mark of the Great Eternal Ones and not that of the Fallen Ones. This distortion will play havoc for those without proper intunement within and for whom discernment is outside their personal experience. It will be denounced by religious zealots who are programmed to biblical writ-ings but without soul discernment. The confusion soon to follow for My Children will be of such abnormality many will be prevented from moving into higher realms of expression.

6

Numbers are identities used widely in the upper realms. Even worlds, planets, are coded by number and not by name upon the great monitoring boards of My Flying Brotherhood. Yes

999

is the number of a man as written, but it is not as originally written. The number was written by, recorded by, another who feigned the mind and thought of the Messenger. Beyond that time there were many other rewritings of the words and many versions with opportunities for revision. At the time, there existed strong sensitivity to the exis-tence of an army of darkness with its certain great leader, whom they chose to call Satan. The system was formulated and elaborated upon by the priests and scribes of this Devil, out of their intense desire to have control of the people in their influence upon them. Ignorance and bigotry fueled the plan. For endless centuries My People did not have access to this written transcription nor the spirituality to receive for themselves. The record remained unchallenged. Only the priest- hood had access to the holy writings and to the possibility of chang-ing them as they desired. In the earliest centuries of the church, the writings were tampered with to imply that the mark was of a nega-tive application and an identity of those of darkness..."

3

He left

4

And he must needs go through

SAMARIA.

5

Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called, Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that

JACOB

gave to his son

JOSEPH.

6

Now

JACOB'S

well was there.

JESUS

therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well:

and it was about the sixth hour.

Page 1119 AD.30

7. "There cometh a woman of Sa-maria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.

8. (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)

9. Then saith the woman of Sa-maria unto him, How is it that I thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no adealings with the Samaritans.

10. Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou would- est have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

11. The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?

12. Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? !

13. Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

14. But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

15. The woman 'saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.

17 The woman answered and said I have no husband. Jesus said un-to her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:

18 For thou hast had five hus- bands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. ,

19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where' men ought to worship.

21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

23. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the itrue worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

24

GOD

IS

A

SPIRIT

and they that worship him must worship

him in spirit and in truth.

25. The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.

26. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

27. And upon this came his disci-ples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talk-est thou with her?

28. The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,

29. Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

30. Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

31. In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.

32. But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.

33. Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?

34. Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

35. Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

36. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that sow-eth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

37. And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.

38. I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

39. And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testi- fied, He told me all that ever I did."

psalm

THE

LORD

reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth be-tween the cherubims; let the earth be moved.

2

THE

LORD

is great in

ZION

and he is high above all the people.

3

Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.

4

The king's strength also loveth judgment; thou dost establish equity, thou executest judgment and righteousness in Jacob.

5

EXALT

YE

THE

LORD OUR GOD

and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.

6

Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; they called upon the LoRD, and he answered

them

7 He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testi- monies, and the ordinance that he

gave them.

8

Thou answeredst them,

O

LORD

our

GOD

thou wast a

GOD

that forgavest them, though thou tookest

vengeance of their inventions.

9

Exalt

the

LORD

our

GOD

and worship at his holy hill; for the

LORD

our

GOD

is holy.

100

MAKE

a joyful noise unto the

LORD

all ye lands.

2

Serve the

LORD

with gladness: come before his presence with singing..

3

Know ye that the

LORD

he is

GOD

it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

5

For the

LORD

is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth nto all generations.

Verse 31

that bewaileth herself, that spreadeth her hands saying, Woe is me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers."
