Hallelujah, Halleluyah, or Alleluia, is a transliteration of the Hebrew word הַלְלוּיָהּ (Standard Hebrew Halləluya, Tiberian Hebrew Halləlûyāh) ...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallelujah -
Hallelujah, Halleluyah, or Alleluia, is a transliteration of the Hebrew word הַלְלוּיָהּ (Standard Hebrew Halləluya, Tiberian Hebrew Halləlûyāh) meaning "[Let us] praise (הַלְּלוּ) Jah (Yah) (יָהּ)" (Sometimes rendered as "Praise (הַלְּלוּ) [the] LORD (יָהּ) or God"). It is found mainly in the book of Psalms. It has been accepted into the English language. The word is used in Judaism as part of the Hallel prayers. Alleluia is the Latin form of the word; it is used by Anglicans and Catholics in preference to Hallelujah.
For most Christians, "Hallelujah" is considered the most joyful word of praise to God, rather than an injunction to praise Him. In many denominations, the Alleluia, along with the Gloria in Excelsis Deo, is not spoken or sung during the season of Lent, instead being replaced by a Lenten acclamation.
Halleluyah is a composite of Hallelu and Jah (Yah). It literally translates from Hebrew as "Praise Jah, [third-person plural]!" or simply "Praise Jah!" Jah is the shortened form of the name Jehovah (Yahweh), referred to as the Tetragrammaton.
The term is used 24 times in the Hebrew Bible (mainly in the book of Psalms (e.g. 111-117), where it starts and concludes a number of Psalms) and four times in Greek transliteration in Revelation.

I heard there was a secret chord
that David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
Well it goes like this :
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah...
Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrough ya
She tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew ya
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
But love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
There was a time when you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show that to me do ya
But remember when I moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah
Well, maybe there's a God above
But all I've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya
It's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah...

"Hallelujah Chorus" from Messiah (1741)
by George Frederic Handel (1685-1759)
A composer can create variety and contrast by changing textures within a composition. He or she might begin with a melody and a simple accompaniment and later weave the melody into a polyphonic web. Or the composer might create drama by contrasting a single voice with massive chords sung by a chorus. A good example of textural variety is George Frideric Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus," analysed here.
One of the world's famous choral pieces is the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Messiah by Handel. In this vigorous chorus Handel offers sweeping variety by sudden changes among monophonic, polyphonic, and homophonic textures. The monophonic texture is very full-sounding as all the voices and instruments perform in unison at the proclamation "for the Lord God Omnipotent reigneth." The texture becomes polyphonic when this majestic proclamation is set against joyful repeated exclamations of Hallelujah in quick rhythms. Polyphony gives way to homophony as the chorus sings "The kingdom of this world..." to hymnlike music.
In the "Hallelujah Chorus," words and phrases are repeated over and over, as has been common practice in choral music for several centuries. (In the following text, lines which are sung at the same time are shown in green) Handel took his text from the Revelation of St. John, which celebrates God as the Almighty and Everlasting Ruler.

Basic Terms
At a particular moment within a piece, we may hear one unaccompanied melody. several simultaneous melodies, or a melody with supporting chords. To describe this various possibbilities, we use the term musical texture; it refers to how many different layers of sound are heard at once, to what kind of layers they are (melody or harmony), and to how they are related to each other.
The texture of a single melodic line without accompaniment is monophonic, meaning literally "one sound". Performance of a single melodic line by more than one instrument or voice is palying or singing in unison and results in a fuller, richer-sounding momophonic texture.
Simultaneous performance of two or more melodic lines of reletively equal interest produces the texture called polyphonic, meaning "many-sounding".
Polyphonic music often contains imitation, which occurs when a melodic idea is presented by one voice or instrument and then restated immediately by another voice or instrument. It's as though different lines of texture play "follow the leader".
